I'm going to try and post on IJ more frequently. At least post my recs and fics here. I've also mirrored all previous posts, so all my fics and the history of my recs should be here. If you happen to notice any fucked up links, let me know!

Next Gen Fest - Rec Post I

hp_nextgen_fest on LJ started posting last week. I’m very excited about it. The only criterion for being in the fest is that one of the main characters in the fic/art must be an epilogue kid. This means we will be seeing as/s and cross-gen, Teddy/James and Scorpius/world. There will be slash and het and smut and cute little gen fics.

I will do my best to read as many fic in this fest as my time allows and give you a short list of what really impressed me. I will likely post every Thursday and maybe the odd Sunday.

Based on the feedback from my Rec Post Poll people generally like my current style of reccing so I'll continue. I will try to make slightly more detailed blurbs to get people clicking. This is a smaller fest with less of my flist following it so I’ll do what I can to lure you H/Ders to love the Epilogue Kids. :D

Beside each fic, I give a heart rating. This is just to give you a sense of how much I liked it. I’ll be the first to admit I am a bit arbitrary about my hearts. If a fic is on this list, I REALLY liked it. The hearts just help me express how much.

I swear I just cannot shut up today, all nervous energy or something.

Anyway, I found folded up in my notebook an hd_holidays fic that I had printed out and stuffed there to read while I was travelling and then obviously forgot about. Makes me wonder what other bits of fics I have hidden places...

Summary: Too short a time in paradise.
Rating: PG
Warning(s): Angst.
Epilogue compliant? Yes.
Word Count: ~7,300
Please read the warning. I did NOT! But alas, the fic was incredible. The imagery was fantastic. The writing crisp and poetic (well those two don't usually go together, but that's what comes to mind, not wordy but the words that were chosen were very said.) The fic delicately ripped my heart to shreds. I forgive it, because it was really beautifully done. But, yeah... read the warning. :D

LOL! This was easy! I just took my fic list and yeah... here you go. I only started writing HP in March of 2008 for hd_500. It's been an incredibly inspiring year for me.

I am most proud of Burn, Burn.
The easiest to write was In the Tent.
The hardest to write was Seventeen (it took nearly 8 months for 4k).
There will always be a special place in my heart for The Great Garden Gnome Rebellion
The most popular was Closure (those crazy angst-lovers!!!)
My favourite character is Lily from Scandelicious and maybe the stripper from Dirty Little Secret.
My least favourite character is Harry from Closure.

Er... so I said I was done. I lied.

I was up waaaaaaaaaaay too late last night reading this. But I was laughing too hard to sleep.
Honestly, I had printed this fic and placed it aside for a couple days because the warnings scared me a little, but it was recced by a couple people I trust so I picked it up and gave it a chance.

FTW!LMFAO!Srsly.

Ok, so it's not for everyone. By OMG! it is totally great for me and my quirky little sense of humour. :D
I just accepted that the author chose to go with a certain style of speak, a certain type of characterization that simply is not JKR's and yet... Who the fuck cares about such things when the fic is incredibly enjoyable. The warnings are valid. But the OOCness is not sloppy, careless writing. It makes for a unique fic that had me actually laughing out loud. Crack is not always my 'thing' but this one is done in a way that knocked my socks off. Give it a try.

My last set of recs before reveals, I think. There have been a few fics that were heavy on the angst posted this week. You likely won’t find them here. I wasn’t in the mood to read anything heart-wrenching and there was plenty happy stuff to pick from.

You will think once you read my recs, that I was awfully free with the ♥s this round. But the last group of fics posted have truly been astonishing and should not be missed. This fandom has a group of incredibly talented and diverse artists and writers and this fest really brings out the best in everyone. If you were looking for me to help you choose which 20-30k fic to read, you are out of luck. Read them all. They are fabulous. :D

also, I'm behind on reading... I don't know if I'll get another rec post out before reveals. Too many 20k+ fics!!!

btw - anyone know when hd_hols reveals are? Is today the last day of posting. I know yuleballs is done and reveals are up on the 2nd. I haven't heard anything about hd_hols. hd_holidays and hp_yule_balls have finished posting. I might have time to catch up on reccing and commenting before reveals. YAY!
