Next Gen Fest - Rec Post I
I'm going to try and post on IJ more frequently. At least post my recs and fics here. I've also mirrored all previous posts, so all my fics and the history of my recs should be here. If you happen to notice any fucked up links, let me know!
Next Gen Fest - Rec Post I
hp_nextgen_fest on LJ started posting last week. I’m very excited about it. The only criterion for being in the fest is that one of the main characters in the fic/art must be an epilogue kid. This means we will be seeing as/s and cross-gen, Teddy/James and Scorpius/world. There will be slash and het and smut and cute little gen fics.
I will do my best to read as many fic in this fest as my time allows and give you a short list of what really impressed me. I will likely post every Thursday and maybe the odd Sunday.
Based on the feedback from my Rec Post Poll people generally like my current style of reccing so I'll continue. I will try to make slightly more detailed blurbs to get people clicking. This is a smaller fest with less of my flist following it so I’ll do what I can to lure you H/Ders to love the Epilogue Kids. :D
Disclaimer: (or why you are more likely to see a pervy Harry/Scorpius than a fluffly Scorpius/Rose being recced)
My preferences are to cross-gen and slash. I will still be checking out the het, but an author has to work a little harder on het to get me to squee. There are certain things - major angst, character death, certain characterizations - that don’t do it for me. And anything too sugary sweet is also not my thing.
My squicks are pretty limited so I might rec: Mpreg, dub-con, some pretty hard-core kinks, cross-gen. Sometimes I’ll rec non-con or chan. Don’t count on my recs to be vanilla. READ THE WARNINGS IF YOU WANT TO AVOID THESE FICS.
This is a rec list and entirely biased. I make no claims towards superior knowledge of what makes a quality fic.

Beside each fic, I give a heart rating. This is just to give you a sense of how much I liked it. I’ll be the first to admit I am a bit arbitrary about my hearts. If a fic is on this list, I REALLY liked it. The hearts just help me express how much.

Summary: Wherein there is Christmas at the Burrow, Charlie Weasley is giving Teddy the strangest looks, and insomnia (and charmed tattoos) bring about a most interesting result.
Word Count: 6,044
This fic is adorable with the double entendres, Victoire the Beard, Bill needlessly worrying about his daughter and the hot hot dirty talk.
Title: Never Let You Go ♥

Pairing(s): Teddy Lupin/James Potter II
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Besides the obvious boysex, none really
Summary: Once was horrid. Twice was out of the question.
Word Count: 4636
Auror trainer!Teddy and Auror trainee!James is very hot. The dynamic between the two was delish. I liked the bit history of Teddy and the Potters that was hinted at. Teddy's motivation to stay away from the Potters was very believable. I think there is a bit of a miscalculation in the timing/ages but it's quick fix for the author post-reveal.
Title: Dating a Straight Boy is Weird and Creepy♥ ♥
Recipient: perculious
Pairing(s): Albus/Scorpius
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Boys kissing, much saucy language, and general farcical behavior.
Summary: Albus is completely straight and Scorpius is completely gay, so naturally they need to go dancing.
Word Count: ~8,400
This fic has a classic premises. The whole 'I'm straight and pretending to be gay for some reason' is a blast and makes for some wonderful uncomfortable UST. Scorpius is a riot with his "I can't even think straight' t-shirt." The fic is just long enough to let you really get into the teen-angst of the boys relationship. Very funny and sweet. Warning: the language and characterizations aren't exactly JKR's style, but park that requirement at the door, and just enjoy the fic.
